Getting to Rincon is not easy. It usually consists of a long, hot, not so comfortable ride but the reward is definitely worth it. Here are the clearest directions to get to Rincon del Mar. From the bus terminal in Cartagena it's about an hour and a half ride to the town of San Onofre. You will be dropped off at a gas station where you will find many people eager to offer transportation services to Rincon del Mar. You will find the two options are taxi cab or motorcycle. Prices for these services are usually around COP$25,000 for a cab (which can take up to four passengers) and COP$7,000 for a motorcycle (single passenger). Once you have arrived in Rincon del Mar ask to be taken to La Punta, the end of the main road. From here you will continue on foot to La Chalupa House.

*An important note to keep in mind is that transportation services from San Onofre to Rincon del Mar usually stop by sun set so you will need to arrive early to find transportation.
